HEdding is still going strong - Lillie has been spending much of the time just 'playing', though of course she sees reading, writing etc as just this!! But, its been nothing too heavy - just still going at her pace for the forseeable future. We have had a discussion on her attending some sort of art class this year, so I shall be researching this at some point for her. There is never a day that goes by where she hasnt created a picture of some sort! So I think it would be good for her to be around others who are likeminded.
We have been discussing our soon to be extended fruit/veg patch - we shall be drawing up some sort of plan before the spring, so we know what we are doing before we actually do it! We have been saving seeds from red, green, yellow & orange peppers to see whether they will germinate. So that will be interesting to see if we are successful with this type of 'recycling'. Im still a novice at home grown produce, but thats how we learn through trial & error & we have learnt alot since starting out... We also have some various garden centre seeds to trust in if we dont do so well with any of our own....
The new series of 'Extreme Dreams' presented by the lovely Ben Fogle on BBC2 has started each evening of this last week. This programme has started all sorts of conversations between Lillie & I -she now has a little insight into how quite adventurous her Mummy used to be as a teenager with two trips to North Yorkshire. In total I spent two weeks hiking across the yorkshire moors. It was totally a great experience & a real test of my character. Of course it was nothing like attempting to reach the summit of Mount Chimborazo in Equador... Lillie & I have both said that maybe one day we could go on some sort of hiking group adventure to somewhere far out and wonderful....
As for just me, I have experienced a change in direction this week regarding my studies - after I have finished my current Health & Social Care course then I shall be leaving any more courses in this area behind and moving on to pastures new. I have already gained a certificate in Health & Social Care and hopefully after successful completion of K202 I will also have a Diploma in HSC to add to my portfolio. So when the time is right for me to apply for my nurse training I will have some knowledge of what to expect & more than the necessary qualifications to get in with as I am now aiming for an OU BA/BSC Open degree (Hons). In regards to pastures new I have pre booked a place on a creative writing course (K215). I have always loved books & a part of me has always wanted to write one of my own. Doing this course will actually see whether I do have some kind of talent for it. The good thing about this course is that it covers several genres of writing, so I am sure I shall find my own style & get to see where it leads. So, I am looking forward to it as well as welcoming a year of not having to revise for & sit an exam!!
Well I think its time to go now, as I am intent on having a relaxing weekend after finishing my TMA this morning, plus Lillie is wanting to log on now for an hour... Just to end - a lovely quote I came across this week - "Education's purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one."Malcom S Forbes
Love the picture - especially the bananas!
ReplyDeleteThe creative writing course sounds great, I've always fancied doing that but never had the courage to try, I'm sure you'll get a lot out of it.
