Slowly getting there!

Its been a wee while since I last updated this blog! Not really that much to report to be honest. Much of my time has been focused on my studies. I managed to get my TMA finished. Thankfully an extension was granted due to having to revise for another course. Just over a week to go now before that exam is sat. Cant wait, will free up so much time. Hopefully the good weather shall return and stay with us after, as cabin fever has started to set in now. I am desperate to get out and about. A trip to the coast is at the top of the agenda.

Lillie has still been going out and about with her Daddy. She now has the complete set of the Harry Potter DVDs, which have become one of her fav' possessions! Trips to the park on good days, dinner out, and hopefully she will be off to her grandparents tomorow. She is hoping the weather will be nice & the tide will be out so she can go to the beach. That reminds me, I best get her bucket & spade ready later just in case. Joe has been a super star with his support for me at this very busy time, as I have not really spent much quality time with Lillie myself as of late & am missing her so much. So its been great her Daddy has been there for her too. She has also spent some of her time on the Cbeebies website, playing the games, singing & printing out some activities to do when she wishes. She has also discovered the Sky games channel, teaching herself how to use the control pad! We collected some empty food packages for her grocery shop, which only provides environmentally friendly shopping bags!! A few games of 'snap' and 'flashcard snap' have been played. I also introduced 'hangman' this week - she loved it, plus it helps with her reading & spellings. As for sitting down doing literacy/numeracy, well no there hasnt been much of that going on! So once my exam is over with, I shall allocate some time for some exercise book/worksheets work and also start another topic of her choice with her.

It finally dawned on me this week about her not starting primary school in September. If she was we would know by now what school she would be attending, organising uniforms and school bags, etc... Do I feel Ive made the right choice? Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. I look at her and see this happy, friendly, free spirited little girl, who shall not be enduring any pressure of living her young life via a timetable, assessments, conflicting teaching styles & standards, being unable to explore the world around her in the way she wants and not being around people who may potentially bully her or coerce her into bullying others. Its kind of comforting to know I wont have these worries like I did with Louis.

Talking of Louis, I had some great news earlier this morning - he telephoned to say he had passed his first year at college. During his call, he said, "Im halfway there now Mum." Im so proud of him - he leads such a busy life and has really matured over this last year with doing his Apprenticeship and always being on the go with one thing or another. Well 'Congratulations son', keep up the good work. It wont be long before you qualify as an electrician now.

Well, I think Ive covered it all now, so best get the washing in machine and do an hour of revision before lunch time. Lillie is around here somewhere entertaining herself, so thats a great help. I think I will sit down with her this afternoon to watch a film or do some reading.

Roll on 18th June!
