Well our comp & internet service is running smoothly again :o) So for the past 2 weeks Ive been occupied (when time allows for it) with all the updates & programme installations I need. Fingers crossed we can just crack on now with online activities without any more trouble!
Lillie is doing great & has just celebrated her 6th birthday as well as her two year anniversary being HE'd. We've been moving along quite happily with it all & with life in general. There are lots of things for us to look forward to - Lillie is now getting to the stage where she 'wants' to work more on activities that involve reading & writing, especially her spellings. Its been lovely to see & Im introducing more challenges for her to work on as you will see over the coming months. Her creative side is still as strong as ever with all her 'make & do' moments. In fact she is working on her Dad's birthday present as I blog! She has also bought herself a recorder this week & is really excited about learning how to play. She has already established 2 notes, 'B' & 'A' & is keen to start on the 'G' note. With all this enthusiasm she has for the recorder, Ive introduced the idea for her to start reading music which she is completely happy about. Im really chuffed about her choosing to start with the recorder, I enjoyed many hours as a child playing one myself. So its very nice seeing Lillie so keen as well as having the opportunity to teach her & revisit my own childhood at the same time.
We have also been out & about during the summer, locally though, as thats what Lillie has wanted. So regular trips to http://www.wellhall.org.uk/where we have watched the gardens change & fed the ducks/squirrels. We were also delighted to see the baby Koi Karp fish that have been introduced into the moat. I just hope that they dont get pinched once the word is out. In fact we are off to the pleasaunce tomorrow afternoon as they have a summer festival on which Lillie is very excited about. She has been trying to talk me into going on the 'Bouncy Castle' with her - we shall see lol.... Lillie has also enjoyed being out on her new scooter that was a birthday present, I dont think it will be long before she starts working on some stunts lol. Time in the garden has been well spent, though we are starting to wind it down now with autumn on its way, plus my OU course starts very soon so I would prefer to be as organised as possible. We have enjoyed the start of being able to eat some of the goodies we have been growing, mainly tomatoes & lettuce at this stage. I think we still have a lot to learn regarding our veggie patch - the strawberry plants have not done well this year so I think they need to be moved back to where they were positioned last year. We lost our broad bean plants and the pepper plants are not well - the snails have been a real problem & I need to find a way to deal with them humanely. The high level of rain this summer hasnt helped either, encouraging more snails to munch away at night. It has been quite disheartening to see some of our veg being eaten or the plants destroyed but we still have cucumbers, potatoes, baby sweet corn, many more tomatoes and blackberries to look forward to. I just need to work out a few ways for improving next summer's crop. We have more seeds to sow for the winter so will have faith that all shall be well.
