Things are going so well lately and the days have been speeding by. Many loose ends have been tied up and are continuing to be. There have also been some life changing decisions made and I can say that I am oozing with happiness. Lillie has been doing well too. She is very excited about approaching her 7th birthday and has made a countdown chart, which has been placed on her bedroom wall. She has requested a pink ukulele, that she's had her eye on for 6 months! Not a week has gone past, where she hasn't run ahead to the music store's window to check the owner has ukulele's in stock. I have a very strong feeling her wish will be granted. As for the day itself, we're not exactly sure how it will be celebrated just yet. A BBQ has been mentioned, but we shall see.
As for anything 'educationally' related. To be honest I'm not keen on making statements like that. Everyday is educational in one form or another. However, if we discuss this formally, I guess it relates to reading, writing, numeracy etc... Well, Lillie has become increasingly eager to read more to me. She read the entire 'Mr Cool' story by Jacqueline Wilson over a period of a week or so. I was amazed at how well she read and with so much confidence. Her expression was excellent and I hope she begins to read more to me on a regular basis. I have also caught her reading aloud to her doll and cuddle companion, while she has been playing in her bedroom or living room. I have been very tempted to go join her, but have resisted in case I put her off from her flow. There was a humourous occasion a few weeks ago while I was having a chat on the phone with a friend. Lillie bounced passed me, heading for the front door. A take away menu had been delivered. I assumed Lillie had placed it in the bin for me. How wrong was I. Ten minutes later, while I was still chatting on the phone, Lillie informed me that she had just ordered a pizza to be delivered! My friend and I could not stop laughing. However, I had to cut our conversation short, so I could phone the pizza outlet to cancel the order. Lillie was not thrilled by this, but I simply did not have the money on my possession to cover the cost of her order. The person who took the order was very understanding and found the situation quite humourous himself. He thought she was a very clever girl and expressed how very precise she was with her order. I did question him on whether he detected that it was a child who had placed the order. But apparently, Lillie had told him that I had given her my permission and because she was so well spoken and was clearly reading from the menu, he believed it was a genuine order. I have decided that in the future when we will have a pizza delivered, then Lillie is more than welcome to place the order!
Writing has been another activity Lillie has been enjoying more and more. She has shown me various things she has been writing and there have been little letters placed under my bedroom door for me to find. And last week she presented me with a beautiful 'well done mum' card for passing my Creative Writing course. I have to admit, I did shed some happy tears because Lillie has been so good while I've studied and written my TMAs and ECA. And then to be given a card for passing was just the icing on the cake.
We've also enjoyed some very nice days 'out 'n' about'. And have many more days out ahead of us, during what's left of the summertime. I guess not today though, as the weather is not good. Rain here!! Alot of rain here!! However, on days like this we always find something entertaining to do. We have an almost finished 1000 piece puzzle we can crack on with, for starters. Though, I seem to have done most of it!!
Love the story about the pizza order - don't ever let her get hold of your credit card!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done on passing your course, hope you had some fun celebrating :o)
Lol about credit card - you're the second person to say that to me...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kara. Definitely had fun celebrating!! It took 2 days to recover :o)
