Well life is just one, long, great roller coaster ride that's for sure! Christmas came and went and a lovely time was had. Lillie spent xmas eve and up to xmas early evening with her Dad and Co. She had a lovely time and got all that she wanted, plus more as usual from both sides of her family, including this laptop I'm cheekily using while tucked up in bed, on this cold sunday morning! Lillie has given her permission and I have only used it two or three times when not been bothered about switchig on desk top to only check an awaiting email from my tutor.
I worked xmas morning, which was fantastic for obvious reasons when you are a Domicillary Care Worker and know some clients won't get to see family and friends for their own personal reasons. So, lots of smiles from clients when seeing me and definitely their smiles were reciprocated. The job is still going well and I love everyday I am working. Lillie has adapted brilliantly in so far as getting up at half five in the mornings, but we soon get to relax when both back home, usually around 12ish. We do miss each alot, but both coping well with this.
As far as HE is going, still no change there! Lillie has become quite a regular on the BBC Bitesize website and I usually sit down wth her to add my own two bobs worth to what ever she's working on! A history of games project is beginning to take shape. The Royal Game of Ur being the first ancient game Lillie is looking at. We're yet to make arrangements to visit the British Museum to see the actual game that's over 2 400 years old, in all it's form and magnificent colours. With Lillie being into art she knew that one of the colours is a mineral - lapis lazuli - which painters have used to create a majestic blue for their artworks.
Despite no change with HE and all the informal and otherwise activities Lillie does independently or with myself and others, Lillie experienced the school environment last Friday. My childminder had a parents morning at her daughter's school. Lillie went along as I was working. I had no problem with this and neither did Lillie or anyone else. From the sound of it, Lillie was quite the little celebrity lol. She spoke about Home Education to some of the pupils and teachers. All but one child thinking it's good that she has an alternative to receiving an education. The child who didn't think it good thought Lillie had to go to school, but Lillie corrected this. Lillie liked the school building itself and took part in some activites. All in all she enjoyed herself. However, this has not changed our thoughts on HE. So, will remain for the forseeable future :o)
My OU work is still going good. Though did have to substitute an assignment, but that was to free up time. I also requested an extension on TMA I'm almost done with now. I won't give up studying, just still adapting to my new routine and finding my feet with fitting everything in. I know I will do it.
Two trips to the cinema in the last two weekends have been fun for Lillie - Journey 2: Mystery Island and the latest Chipmunks movie. I can't say whether the former film was any good as I wasn't there but Lillie enjoyed it. As for the latter movie - HILARIOUS! I loved some of the quotes taken from other films, very apt! Lillie giggled, sung and boogied all the way through!
We have had one distastrous start to our weekend a fortnight ago. Lillie and I did not notice our beloved cat, Rocco had followed us down the road on our way to Lillie being dropped off at our chidminder's. We crossed the main road, which can still be a little busy even at 6.15 am as the cars seem to take a faster approach. One such car was speeding, while our cat attempted to cross said road to follow us. He got hit and Lillie and I witnessed this. Panic set in, thankfully a very kind lady came to our rescue, but Rocco after being knocked out, came round and ran off.
I called office to get cover for my clients and we had the difficult task of locating Rocco. This felt worse because we didn't know if he would survive and we would forever be in the dark about him. Fortunately, neighbours and friends and even strangers rallied around with us trying to find him. Just as I was making up missing posters, I heard him. He made his way home and the vets was next place for him. Our cat was very lucky indeed and probably used his last life up. He suffered some damage to his left side of his brain which has improved and some slight internal bleeding on his left lung. With lots of love, care and medication, he has done very well under vet's advice yet is also grounded for the rest of his life. So far, he's adapting well enough to this not going out anymore. Although, I shall still allow him out in the back garden with us when warmer weather arrives as he loves that and constantly follows us about.
So, all in all, life for us is still going good for us....
