Wildwood Discovery Park

A wonderful day out to http://www.wildwoodtrust.org/ last Saturday was had by all. Set in an ancient & beautiful woodland area, where many signs of spring have arrived & with plenty more on the way! The weather was kind to us & the tea was tasty too! We shall definitely return later in the year to see many more changes relating to the four seasons!

Just before the entrance, there is an education centre, which Im sure is used all the time. Being our first visit, we chose to leave out the centre for another day, as Lillie was very keen to see the animals & have some lunch!

The Green Lizard certainly loved the heat beaming down on his rock! He was sitting like this when we arrived & hadnt seemed to of moved when we were leaving!
Lillie fed & watered wanting to get moving!!
The Raven was very friendly & very amusing, 'chatting' to everyone who passed him by! This Raven named Bina is famous for imitating other birds!
Myths & Folklore - Ravens have the gift of seeing into the future.
- Killing a Raven is a crime because King Arthur lives on in the form of a Raven.
Roe Deer & Fallow Deer to busy to notice anyone!!
Myths & Folklore - Deer cry when they lose their antlers.
- Fallow Deer never drink.

Plantation springing into life & very pretty too!

I think these birds were the Spoonbills...
Ducks...
Myths & Folklore - If a duck lays an unusual looking egg it is a sign of bad luck - to avoid it you should eat the duck!

Konik Horse...

Lillie imitating a Mule Deer!

Me imitating a Fallow Deer! (With Lillie).
Lillie's Dad Joe imitating a Red Deer! (With Lillie).

Two badgers all curled up for the day!
Myths & Folklore - Badger skin in your shoes gives you magical power over horses.
- Badgers teach people which roots & herbs to eat.

European Wolf...
Myths & Folklore - Wolves eyes glow in the dark.
- Wolf teeth rubbed on gums cures toothache.

Lillie on the Hungry Caterpillar Slide!

Me & Lillie almost stuck on the Hungry Caterpillar Slide!
On the way home we popped into Lillie's Nan & Grandads for a lovely cup of tea & some cakes!! Lillie enjoyed telling her Grandad all about our day in between mouthfuls! This girl really does love her food!!
