This year has begun with the decision to firstly finish off last year's projects. So, after shopping this morning, Lillie continued on with one - 'Australia'. This project has so far included map work, reading and researching - which will lead onto further research, such as Ned Kelly, Amy Johnson, Captain Cook and so forth. We've also discovered little facts, such as a message being thrown overboard from a ship off Australia and found 72 years later on a nearby island. We are very intrigued as to what this message said, so hopefully we can uncover this somewhere, somehow.
We've also been looking into taking a voluntary working holiday, in Kenya, for around 2013, as Lillie will be 10 years old and more able and appreciative of the experience. We have begun saving for this and each have a savings tin and pot with our names and destination clearly marked on them. I am in the process of liasing with 'Cross Cultural Solutions' in relation to this trip. Our aim is to learn some basic conservation skills, working alongside rangers who protect all the beautiful wildlife, as well as spend some time in a school, helping out where ever we can. Obviously, the trip will be tailored made fully, to what Lillie and I would like to experience nearer the time of departure.
We would also like to take a short holiday somewhere in the UK this year. We didn't manage one together last year. So, a holiday for 2011 is compulsory, me thinks!!
Home Education will still continue, as will my studies. Hopefully I will achieve my Diploma in Literature and Creative Writing and earn more credits towards my degree.
So, quite alot to be thinking about, organising and getting on with. And alot of smiles too....
The trip to Kenya sounds fantastic, something very exciting for you both to work towards - good luck with the saving!
ReplyDeleteHope you're still enjoying the course, I never signed up for it in the end, very tempted but just don't have the time to do it justice. If only I had more hours in each day, or an extra day in the week!!

Thanx Kara :o)
ReplyDeleteYeah, still lovin' the course. You can always sign up for it when the time is right for you. I would totally recommend it - it's hard going, but well worth it
