Happy New Year even though it's the end of January!! Anyhow, this year has got off to a super start. Not only have the festive decorations and trees been taken time, but some de-cluttering has been occurring. I have been brutal with it too!! But, feel lighter for doing so. And there is more cupboard space, so health and safety has moved from danger zone to satisfactory levels!!
Work to transform our back garden into our new Lottie has commenced. Pots are located in one place for when the time comes for their use. Vacuumed packs of compost are building up for the first sowing of some seeds this week. New hand tools and trellises bought and stored away, twine and crop labels to the ready and the first of two trips to the allotment to bring home some more tools, pond surround pebbles, candle holder jars and other ornamental things to use and brighten the garden before it's in full bloom and overflowing with crops.
Two small household repairs will be completed tomorrow and a survey tomorrow afternoon to determine whether a new bathroom will be fitted. Personally I would like the council to fit a new bathroom as it will save me the time and money in retiling, due to one tile that has cracked and irritates me every time I look at it!!
As for Lillie, she is well and enjoying the start of my having next week off from work! No early starts for her till a week on Tuesday. Lillie has spent time at the library, been to Girls' Brigade, organised my birthday present, assisted in a huge clear out of her bedroom, as I've ordered her a double bed and mattress that will be delivered early February. Lillie can't wait for the extra bed space! She has also submitted her 3rd tutor marked assignment and bought 2 Xbox games which she says are a challenge! She has also helped out with collecting the tools etc from the allotment and ensured specific ingredients got for a meal she has planned for this coming Wednesday, when her Auntie (my sister) and cousin visit.
Lillie will be 11 this year and would like a 'Grease' themed birthday party so arrangements for this have commenced. A venue has been chosen so enquiries into it's availability will be determined this coming week. Lillie has drawn up a guest list and made suggestions regarding the food menu. We've looked online at tableware and decorations for the hall and an offer for the 'Grease' themed birthday cake is there for accepting. The decision to hire a 1950's band, or have a DJ, or a Karaoke machine or a Jukebox or cheerleaders is still undecided!! I sense more grey hairs on the horizon.
Well I think that's it for the first posting of 2014. Here's to it being another year to remember... :-)
