It appears that Home Education is being attacked once again. When will these people in power realise the many benefits children who are HE have? We dont lock our kids away to use/abuse them. We dont starve them & keep them at risk of physical/mental/emotional/financial harm/neglect. We dont prevent them from having academic lives/careers/ambitions. We do the opposite because we love our children & want to see them grow into their own characters at their own pace/ability in a safe and happy environment.
I do not ususally post my reactions to issues such as this, as I want this blog to demonstrate how wonderful & beneficial HE really is for my daughter and others who are HEdding their children on the blog links I have provided on here. But today I am angry - Yes, HE is not be for everyone, neither is school. Yes there are children out there being used/abused, but how many children are not recognised as being in such intolerable environments while in the care of a school? When will the suggestion of HE being a cover up for some children who are abused end? I am fed up with the negative portrayal that some people in power use regarding HE. I am fed up with the government for not taking more responsibilty of enforcing better prevention schemes/strategies to protect all children from abuse, including the school environment. I am fed up with the stigma/discrimination attached to HE. I will not discontinue with HE. I will not place my child into a school unless my child requests it at a later stage. I will continue to oppose those who have no experience of HE, yet have plenty of negative things to say about it. I propose to those who have no experience of HE & have negative things to say about it to step outside the box & take a good look at the bigger picture. Listen to, read about, talk with those who do have the experience of HE. You might find that afterall, YOU will actually LEARN from what you discover rather than use HE as 'another' means to blame the government's downfall of protecting this country's children...
If you have time & wish to read about other HEdding parents' responses to the governments proposals of change regarding HE as well as further links of interest regarding this issue, then here is the link where you can do just this & have your say also if you so wish
