After a chat on football with Lillie over breakfast last Wednesday morning we came to the conclusion that it would be interesting to work on our beloved team - Chelsea F.C more fully. So we have started doing a project on just that. With Lillie's love for drawing, I thought the best way to get her started was to design a title page & for her then to sketch the latest crest. With working backwards on the crests over the years she will also pick up more knowledge on the history of the club. I regard myself quite clued up with our team so have many ideas floating around the old brain that I may think will be of interest her. Such as past/present photographs, all the football kits, even past quality players alongside the ones she already knows in the present (Terry, Lampard, Drogba...), trophies we have won & lost, etc... Though Im certain there will be many things we will discover (good & bad) together for the first time which will be something we will always remember doing for years to come....

Lillie's sketch of the latest Chelsea F.C crest, officially since 2004/5 season.
While out shopping yesterday morning, Lillie & I bumped into some friends. The children were pleased to see each other as was the case with us two Mums. Our girls have since spoken on MSN Messenger & are wanting to meet up next weekend, they are just waiting for confirmation from 'the grown ups'! I love the idea that Lillie can interact over the internet in this way, not only does it allow her to be in contact & have a giggle or two with others but will also be of benefit with her spellings & typing skills.
We also took a trip to our local mobile library yesterday afternoon & Lillie selected some good books, especially the cookery and Autumn books. Every year she enjoys the autumn months -she loves the changes in colours, running through the leaves & of course Halloween, which lasts about a week in our house!

We sat with this cookery book when we returned home, I cant think of much we wouldnt enjoy! Some great recipes going on in here - totally recommend it.
This morning & afternoon's events have been fun with Lillie wanting to return to a past project; the solar system. We havent really discussed it much since it fizzled out over 18 months ago. However, I was pleasantly suprised with how much she has remembered with firing quick questions at her in addition to a little demonstration using tomatoes to imitate the 9 planets orbiting the sun! Questions such as, which planet would take the longest to orbit the sun? What is the name of the planet closet to the sun? What are the names of the planets with dust rings? It was a good way to see where we need to go from there. Then we moved on to starting a wall poster which she has thoroughly enjoyed working on. She chose to use her free time to add more than what the pics below show.

The 9 planets orbiting the sun. Lillie has since added a rocket, some gold stars, a shooting star & a little Alien! I will upload the updated version when she adds a data box.

A close up view...

For the remainder of her morning free time, she chose to practise her recorder notes. Here she is working on Note A.

Another book I would recommend - it also includes a CD which Lillie hasnt used as yet.
All sounds (and looks) rather fab :) I enjoyed reading!
ReplyDeleteLove the solar system project - great wall poster. We did one a while ago and made up a story to remember which order the planets go in, had great fun with that! X
