Toppings added before grilling until the cheese had melted...
Louis added ketchup on top of his ones! We were all in agreement that they tasted delicious & Lillie said they were better than Pizzas! This morning Lillie & I were busy in the garden. Lillie played & explored while I got to mowing the grass. We also picked two cucumbers & some tomatoes, though the tomatoes are sitting on the window sill as they are not quite ripe yet. Ive also decided to use the veg patch space for just a herb garden now. I feel what we grew fruit/veg wise didnt do as well as expected. I think the snails, weather & our lack of experience may have had something to do with this. So next year we are aiming to use pots to see how we do.
While spacing out the herb plants, I found a little caterpillar & that encouraged a lovely discussion on the changes it faces before it becoming a butterfly.
Lillie allowed the caterpillar to wriggle about in her hands while she was wearing my gardening gloves so she could take a closer look at it.
Once she was satisfied, we gently placed it back on a bush and off it went to get on with its day...One vegetable that didnt get off to a good start was our baby sweetcorn. We lost several plants to the snails, but what we did get to keep has survived very well & we are looking forward to seeing how they taste very soon.
Our baby sweetcorn... This year has been a huge learning curve for both of us regarding growing our own fruit/veg. We did have high expectations at the start & felt disappointed several times throughout. But we never gave up & have had some good & tasty results. All we can do is 'try & try again'. Im sure we will get better experienced with time. Despite the disappointments we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & looking forward to carrying on with it all...
