History...

Lillie has been working on her ancestry which I've mentioned in previous posts, but since our room swap she has stated she would like her family tree painted on one of the walls. Some big task is this! But, not an impossible one. It would mean lots more research and input from her paternal side for maybe just a few hints. But, if not, it shouldn't affect the tree's development too much.

Afterall, I'm beginning to feel like I've moved away from novice family researcher with all I have discovered over the past couple of years. Lillie's maternal side goes back to 1791 as earliest time so far. So, Lillie already has 212 years history behind her.

Anyway, this morning while I was getting some household chores done, Lillie presented me with an outline of a tree and asked whether I could fill it in with all the names I had when my jobs were done. I did as she had asked. It took just over an hour and required me to be logged into ancestry.co.uk to have my family tree on view. Even though I see it on a regular basis, it did feel quite overwhelming placing names into a tree. Of course it was very enjoyable.

Lillie's Family Tree 1791 - 2003

What felt quite surreal to me when researching last year is that in c.1874 Lillie's Gt Gt Gt Grandmother was born. Now I spell Lillie this way. Usually people tend to opt for Lily. I just liked the way I spelt it from birth. Something parisian about it.

Back to my research last year - I came across my Gt Gt Grandmother - Lillie Gertrude M Hills (nee Barber) c.1874-1928. I nearly fell off my chair at the time and shivers ran up and down my spine and nape. Lillie found it amazing when I informed her at the time and even now she's amazed. So, here's the evidence below of Lillie Barber all those years ago....
