Home Alone!

Lillie has not long left, to stay the weekend at her Dad's. So, I am Home Alone! I have to confess to feeling happy, having the house to myself for a short while. Of course this has nothing to do with Lillie, I love her company and all that we do when home. It's more so to do with just having some 'me' time after a busy past week. Although Wednesday evening was a recharge our batteries kinda night. We were both sound asleep by 9pm. Then Thursday came and it was back to business again.

We do love Thursdays. Lillie enjoys her Girls' Brigade meet and I enjoy my hour study sesh at the library, while Lillie is with her friends. This Thursday's GB meet came with some unexpected news. Lillie and the other GBers knew before I did, at the beginning of their evening of fun. When I arrived back at the hall at my usual time, I was approached by the GB Captain. She is a lovely lady and very much loved by all the girls and indeed us Mums and Dads. She said she wanted to tell me in person some news seeing as I had been bringing Lillie to GB for a long time now. The news is that she will be retiring at Easter. I was a little shocked to be honest. I assumed she would be around forever. It's truly not something that has crossed my mind.

I gave her a great big hug and said Lillie and I will miss her very much when the time comes to say farewell. Though, I did ask if she would still pop in from time to time and she confirmed she would if needed. So, it won't be a farewell and never see her again. She was very kind to Lillie and I when Lillie went for her very first GB night. She was aware Lillie is Home Educated and allowed me to stay for the whole session that very first time back in November 2009. She is also a retired primary school teacher and has continuously supported Lillie and I with our different lifestyle, plus would ask for updates on my progress from start to finish with my job. A job she knows I love so much. We've even chatted at times about the Care sector. It will be a sad evening when she holds her final session. I expect tears from the girls, her colleagues and even some of the parents. She is so dedicated to her role within the Company and it will take some time to get used to another Captain. Although, the replacement is equally as lovely as the present one.

Other news from the last GB meet is that the Girls were busy making invitations for 'Bring a Friend' night next Thursday - the girls are working towards their 'Friendship' badge and next week's occasion goes towards this badge. Lillie wants to invite her friend Alexis. I explained to Lillie to let me run it past Alexis's Mum first before the invitation is given to her friend. I mentioned it yesterday to Lina (our lovely childminder) when collecting Lillie after work and enjoying a much needed coffee after hearing some sad news during work. I will come to that piece of news in the next paragraph. Well, Lina has not said 'no' and will see how she can organise this to happen. I am aware Thursdays and Fridays are her busiest childminding days. But, she is going to see if her husband can drop and collect Alexis on Thursday. I did suggest, that I am more than happy for Alexis to come for dinner with Lillie after school and I will take both girls and bring them home and Alexis be collected from my house. So, we shall see what Lina can organise. I hope she can find a way. Lillie will love having Alexis attend GB next week.

Now for my sad news whilst at work yesterday. I heard that another past client I visited has recently died. I was in total shock. Shocked at how it happened. I am not at liberty to say for confidentiality reasons. What I can say is that this particular lady was lovely. She was graceful and sophisticated and I'm glad I got to know her. And glad I told her all those times how graceful and sophisticated she was. R.I.P Dorethea... So, my Friday was a bit of a sad day and I couldn't shift how I was feeling for the duraton of it.

Now it's Saturday and my baby girl and I have had a lovely morning prior to her leaving for her weekend away. She snuggled up in bed with me to watch Saturday morning tv for a little while. Lillie stayed in my bed after I decided it was time for me to get up and prepare her bath, weekend bag and clothes. Then after Lillie's bath and hairwash, it was time to blow dry her hair, while we chatted or watched more tv, in my room. She chose to have her hair down today. It's so long, healthy and thick - I would love hair like hers. Though, there are times when I could gladly chop it all off when we are haiving an 'off day' with it!!

We got tidied up, ate breakfast and read some more of The Hobbit. Before we knew it, Lillie's Dad was knocking on the door. We said our goodbyes and she told me she would phone me later. The time is flying by - I look at her sometimes and think to myself that my baby is growing up into such a beautiful young lady. She simply shines and totally amazes me. I shall look forward to seeing her tomorrow and we can snuggle up together and watch the second and final part of Natural World: Kangaroo Dundee - a very inspiring and must see tv program. Who said too much tv is not good for you? Surely it depends on what your viewing - and so much to learn and discover and be amazed at when it's a program as educational and heartwarming as this....
