Ahoy, me Hearties!

This week Lillie started another project based on pirates! She got the inspiration from a bookstart treasure chest that we found at the back of her wardrobe! It must of been there at least 2 years! So far the chest contains an eye - patch, a jewel, a pic of a pirate, some large beach pebbles, shells, an inflatable parrot & two treasure maps! In addition, I suggested to Lillie that we add some gold & silver chocolate coins- she thought that a great idea, but something tells me they wont last long!!
This map was created by Lillie - lots of treasure to locate!

Lillie insisted on having the map I created uploaded! Both have been rolled up & tied with blue ribbon to stop prying eyes from finding our treasure! Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! We also found a great website so as to learn some pirate phrases! http://www.piratetreasure.org/pirate-phrases.htm plus its a website covering all things pirate! The homepage can be accessed from http://www.piratetreasure.org/index.htm Tomorrow we shall be visiting the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich http://www.nmm.ac.uk/server/show/nav.2837 Who knows what we will come back with, lol...

Monday, Lillie & I had her brother Louis stay over - Lillie had just had the elastic sewn into her ballet slippers so was practising her self taught ballet steps to Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major when Louis arrived - I think I shall enquire into a ballet class for her soon if she keeps this up! We also enjoyed a lovely dinner together which Louis helped cook! The equestrian cross country event was on TV - I couldnt miss watching & was also joined by Louis & Lillie who both enjoyed this olympic event as much as me! So yesterday, while Louis was on the internet, Lillie & I watched the show jumping event, though Louis did stop to watch Team GB win the bronze and also Kristina Cook winning bronze in the individual competition.
Kristina Cook: Bronze in individual competition and team event.
Well done Tina!!
I just thought I would mention Lillie's trip to the cinema last Saturday to finally see 'Kung Fu Panda'. Each child was given a 'Warriors Guide' book to keep - Thanks Dreamworks, I think that was a lovely keepsake to provide ....
Now for another little piece of history - When Lillie returned home on Sunday, she was watching 'Bill & Ben' on Cbeebies - I mentioned to Lillie, that many years ago children watched 'Bill & Ben' in black & white. For her to grasp what I was saying I altered the colour on our TV. She thought this 'cool'! So our conversation developed into how tv & cinema has changed over the years. Today Lillie watched a whole episode of 'Bill & Ben' in black & white just like her Nanny would have done when she was a little girl...

  1. I'll always remember my boys reaction to seeing a dial telephone for the first time. I had forgotten that it had been so long since they were the norm. Haven't things changed so much since we were little
