Ancestry

Family history is something very important to Lillie and I. We are both often found looking through documents and chatting about where 'we' came from. Personally, I think it's very important children know about 'their' family history - this helps with their identity and their place in our world. Not just a present thing cos afterall we all have history.

When I was in my early teens, my maternal Grandmother presented me with a book that was written about Edwardian childhoods - I was delighted and interested to know that my Great Great Uncle was part of this book - in fact a whole chapter was written about his childhood and other family members. The book also contains photographs I've never seen.

As years went by the book became more difficult to find, until recently when my 2nd cousin managed to locate one for my Auntie. Since, starting up another Summer of working on my Family Tree, I browsed the Amazon website to see if this book was available. And it was. Yes, you've guessed it. Yesterday, my beloved book arrived...

The book...

Clifford Hills...

Clifford Frank Hills - my Great Great Uncle. That makes him Lillie's Great Great Great Uncle

This book is going to be extremely helpful with adding to our family history. I was that pleased I had to let my Auntie know via Facebook. It wasn't long before she was uploading more photos of our family. I treasure photos and sadly lost some to stupidity some years back (not my stupidity - stereotypically, it was down to the opposite sex!).

So, here's some family pics that I know Lillie will treasure too and I can't wait for her return on Friday to show her....

My gorgeous maternal Grandparents - Celia and Brian Hills

My beautiful Great Grandmother - Louisa, holding my son Louis. Louisa's Great Great Grandson

My cute little cousins, Samantha, Lawrence and Leon with their baby second cousin, Louis hiding behind the teddy and their first cousin (me) in the background

The Dynamic Duo - Lawrence and Leon

And here's me!! Taken at Ramsgate

And this pic was drawn for me today by my beautiful little second cousin Savannah - it's me on the left and Savannah on the right
