Today has involved a mixture of emotions - this morning I felt a little anxious, as Lillie started with her new child-minder. It felt okay getting up 10 minutes earlier (for me), taking a different bus route together and checking out the scenery from the hilltop, but then I felt strange saying goodbye. It's not the fact I've had to get Lillie a new child-minder as I feel good vibes form her. It's just a case of hoping Lillie will be okay and settle in alright.
I managed to hold out for 2 and a half hours before texting to see how things were! Well judging from the reply, I felt at ease immediately. Feeling more relaxed, I continued to look forward to seeing Lillie after finishing work. Even my clients were all asking how Lillie was getting on!
I arrived to collect Lillie earlier than the finish time - I could hear Lillie playing in the communal garden and chatting away to Dee. I knew all was definitely well by Lillie's tone of voice and catching her descending the slide! Phew! Relief washed over me and the smiles flowed from me. Lillie was eager to tell me all she got up to while with Dee. It was absolutely fantastic to hear :o)
Activities included Lillie meeting another minded child, doing the morning school run, playing card games, a trip to the park, eating an ice-cream, being included in preparing a chicken casserole and rice for lunch, successfully completing some maths I had set her, playing in the communal garden, creating and playing a crazy golf game using only natural items, such as fallen tree branches, pine cones and discarded bits of wood. I shall take my camera tomorrow to take a pic of this crazy golf set-up.
Lillie had so much fun and didn't want to leave when it was time for us to go, after I had a cuppa and chat with Dee about Lillie's first day. Now some parents may not like hearing their child say such things, but I was delighted to hear this as it was confirmation that Lillie had, had a great time. Dee enjoyed herself too with having Lillie. She said that Lillie was good and is mature for her age. One happy Mumma here :o)
I also discovered today en route to Dee's this morning that Lillie had been playing football while at her Dad's the weekend just gone. She added that she was the only girl on the team! She explained that she had asked to join in with the boys. She also volunteered to be goalkeeper too! Now I know how that can be with the football coming at you from all angles and at speed too! She said she saved more goals than not and even saved some penalties that were taken! The boys were of mixed ages - from 9 to early teens. They thought Lilliee was about 11 and from what she was saying they seemed shocked when she told them she was indeed 9. She said she loved being part of their team and I'm guessing she will want to join in again.
So, today started on an anxious note for me but certainly ended with knowing I have most definitely made the best decision to change child-minders. Plus discover my girl loves a challenge when it comes to sports - you go girl! I wonder who she takes after. If she was sitting here now reading this she would say I take after you Mum! However, she may take after me but she is without a doubt her own person and rightly so. I'm so proud of her and it's a joy to see her growing in to a super young lady who is very happy just being herself.
