Girls' Brigade Sports Day!

Yesterday was a lovely day, we had a relaxed start to the morning followed by plenty of excitment for the afternoon's events. We were picked up just after lunchtime, to be taken to the Meridian District Sports Day which was held in Bromley. The journey saw Lillie and her friend Catherine in high spirits and looking forward to taking part in their chosen races. Both girls had opted for the 60 metres running race, as well as, Lillie entering the 60 metres skipping race and Catherine entering the obstacle race. Other discussions during the journey involved the solar system, a war story about one of Catherine's relatives and movies.

On arrival, the weather seemed to show signs of rain, but that did not put any any of the young athletes off from preparing for their events. The district's GB leaders organised the races, name tags and team colours. So, the atmosphere was buzzing with plenty of activity and excitment. Lillie was entered for races 8 and 16 and Catherine was entered for races 12 and 20.

Not looking very happy with her performance - however, Lillie did very well and Mummy here felt extremely proud of Lillie's achievement.
Skipping race done - Lillie received a point for her GB team. Well done sweetheart! Catherine also did very well in her races - the team spirit between these two girls was a joy to see, as indeed their GB team as a group. We will find out on Thursday, where 1st Eltham Park GB came in the district. I'm sure the GB leaders will be very proud of their girls whatever the result may be.

... followed by a quick hug, before getting settled in the car and heading for home. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon. Well done to all the girls who took part. Looking forward to next year's GB Sports Day already...
