She opted for Girls' Brigade. However, we had to walk through the High Street due to road closures to get to the Church Hall. There was a great atmosphere, live music, people dressed up, the smell of chips in the air & lots of children eagerly awaiting the parade & firework display.
We arrived at the Church Hall after swimming through the many waves of people. I have spent the last week reassuring Lillie that I would definitely return to collect her at 7.30pm. So, she was more than happy for me to study in the library this week. I have to admit my stomach was in knots for those 90 minutes because I have never left her in the care of anyone outside her family. However, they immediately disappeared when I saw her smiling face & received a big hug from her. She had so much to tell me & the joy in her face reassured me that she had, had a great time.
On our way home, we walked back down the high street so Lillie could see the Christmas lights. The road had not yet re opened, as there was still a hive of activity with the dismantling of the music stage, clearing up in progress & several crowds of people continuing on with their own festivities.
Once home Lillie couldnt wait to get tucked up in bed with some hot buttery toast & her High School Musical DVD before falling asleep. In the end she got the best of both worlds despite not seeing the parade or fireworks this year. I am so proud of her, I love her obvious confidence & watching her grow at her own pace into such an independent little lady. She's amazing.
