Welcome 2013

Well it's a New Year and so far has been a good start. I have to confess, the christmas tree and decs are still up in our world. Not out of choice though!! It's been a very busy first week into 2013. Lillie has returned to her childminder while I go to work. She's been having a lovely time as usual there. Lina's daughter has still been on school holiday, so the girls have had time together. Lina's Mum, sister and her partner have visited from Bulgaria for Christmas. So, Lillie has enjoyed meeting and seeing them. They return home today. Lillie wished them a good flight home when saying goodbye yesterday.

Work has seen my visits increase from last Thursday. However, I lost one client over christmas. Sadly, he passed away. I have been upset by this news, but feel fortunate to have met and known him and learn many, many things about life in general. I shall be sending his family a card to let them know I'm thinking of them and how much I enjoyed working with them all. R.I.P Kenneth... It was lovely to see two familiar clients' faces again Thursday and Friday and I will be their permanent carer for set calls, from here on in. I'm very happy about this. I also had a home visit assessment - my field supervisor who carried out the assessment on my performance etc said, he has heard good things about  me while I was on sick leave, oh, and I passed the assessment.

Our internet connection was down from last Sunday to Thursday - my next uni assignment is due next Tuesday, but I have to have it finished by Monday at the latest, to be sure it's submitted before the cut off date/time on Tuesday. So, I've been cracking on with it when I can since Thursday and this weekend, I shall be mostly attached to the laptop while Lillie is at her Dad's for the weekend. I should get it finished on time (one hopes!!).

Lillie has had a trip to our doctor's for a check up this week, regarding her persistent on/off cough, vomiting and wheezing at times and for myself to be reassured it's okay for her to continue on with the Ventolin inhaler she was given by her Dad's GP last week. I have suspected the possibilty of Lillie having a mild case of asthma, with the wheezing. Our GP said it may be a possibilty but hopefully will be short term and will fizzle out once her cough has got better. However, it will be checked again if the wheezing persists after the cough has cleared up. GP's don't give out steroid inhalers anymore to start with. So, hopefully it won't be necessary for Lillie to move onto one. Plus, Lillie has been sleeping undisturbed throughout the night, which I know is a good sign, being asthmatic myself.

Now onto some plans for 2013

1) Lillie and I to take a break to Scotland at the start of this summer for ancestry, educational and leisurely purposes.

2) My graduation and the start of a long break from my studying!

3) Possible move of house which we started organising towards the last quarter of 2012.

4) Lillie to visit some secondary schools' open days/evenings this Autumn, in consideration for her opting to not continue on with Home Education, from the start of secondary school years which will be in Autumn 2014 for Lillie.

5) To begin preparing Lillie academically for secondary school, if she opts to attend OR prepare Lillie for a more structured academic approach to Home Education. This will involve more use of  Key Stage materials/resources that will lead onto GCSEs/iGCSEs in English and Maths and other subjects that are of interest to Lillie with the Oxford Home Schooling http://www.oxfordhomeschooling.co.uk/

6) Hopefully for the family court hearings to conclude

7) To continue smiling, laughing, having fun and enjoying happy days and living life to the max!!!

I think that's covered the most important plans for 2013....

Oh, 8) To take down the christmas tree etc by next weekend!!!
